![]() Bruce Hartwig Flying School, "The Career Makers", operates from Parafield Airport, Australia's Centre of Aviation Training excellence. Our school is unashamedly commercial in its approach. We know that our graduates can only be the best in Australia and obtain a position with an aircraft operator if, in addition to being excellent pilots, they understand the industry that they will work in. We are clearly focused on the employment for our graduates. Bruce Hartwig Flying School owns and maintains a large fleet of single and twin engine training aircraft and operates in one of the most accessible, and varied training areas in Australia. Where applicable, we use state-of-the-art computer teaching aids in our excellent classroom facilities. Our Instructors are qualified to senior levels and most have Chief Pilot experience. They know the aviation industry. Their nationwide network of contacts provides an invaluable resource for the newly qualified pilot searching for a job. We are proud to boast that many of the best airline and general aviation pilots trained at our school. Safety
The most import factor in any aviation venture is safety, and the Bruce Hartwig Flying School uses safety as the driving concept for everything that forms part of its training syllabus.Aircraft are a very expensive investment. Employers must have total confidence in the pilots that they employ, because a single accident is enough to destroy the fortunes of any organisation, large or small. The Bruce Hartwig Flying School teaches all of their students to make safety a number one priority in every operation. To learn the concepts of safety, students must be able to fly the type of aircraft that they will be employed to operate, and to fly into airfields while experiencing conditions that they will encounter during their day to day operations. Real World Aircraft
The Bruce Hartwig Flying School believes that all training must be undertaken in "real world" type aircraft.Although initial training is undertaken or our Diamond DA20-C1's and IFR certified Cirrus SR20's, we believe that our Commercial Students must gain experience in "real world" conditions flying aircraft such as our Cessna C-206. The Cessna C-206 is the workhorse of scenic flight operators and charter organistions both within Australia and around the world. At the Bruce Hartwig Flying School we use the Cessna C-206 for the last 30 hours of each Commercial Pilot's training, to give our graduates the edge when applying for their first job. Our IFR certified Cessna C-206 is fully equipped with GPS, VOR, DME and ADF navigation aids as well as a two-axis autopilot. Real World Conditions
There is little to be gained from flying "real world" aircraft from perfect airfields in perfect conditions. The Bruce Hartwig Flying School is ideally located on the Adelaide Plains.
The weather conditions in Adelaide are generally fine with long hours of daylight, resulting in more training opportunities than in many parts of the world. However, Adelaide is generally quite windy exposing our students to frequent crosswind and turbulent conditions. Knowing the Business
At the Bruce Hartwig Flying School, we recognise that there is more to an aviation career than being able to fly an aircraft. There are many situations where a new pilot is likely to be given the job of managing a flying operation as well as piloting the aircraft. We ensure the our graduates are given a grounding in:
Flexible Training
We recognise that the requirements of each student is not the same. Our ISO 9001 Quality Certification allows us to tailor each pilot's training to suite the individual needs of the student and their employer.![]() |
